Select audio

Selecting audio allows you to mark a start and end point for playing, editing, and moving specific sections of audio.

Select a point of audio

To select a point of audio:

  1. On the Tools toolbar, click the Selection tool.

    Shortcut

    Press F1 .

  2. Click the part of the track that you want to select.

    A selected point of audio is indicated by the cursor’s position on the track.


Select a section of audio

To select a section of audio:

  1. On the Tools toolbar, click the Selection tool.


  2. Drag the cursor over the part of the track(s) that you want to select.

    A selected section of audio is indicated by a highlighted region on the track(s).


Select a section of audio during playback

To select a section of audio during playback:

  1. Press [ to mark the start of the audio selection.

  2. Press ] to mark the end of the audio selection.


Resize an audio selection

To resize an audio selection:

  1. On the Tools toolbar, click the Selection tool.

  2. Hover over the edge of the audio selection so that the cursor turns into a pointing hand cursor.

  3. Drag the edge of the audio selection until you reach the desired size:

    • To increase the audio selection, drag the audio selection outwards.

    • To decrease the audio selection, drag the audio selection inwards.

    Tip

    You can also press and hold Shift , and then click the part of the track where you want to increase or decrease the size of the audio selection.


Select a track

To select a track:

  • Click the track's Track control panel or the Select button.


Select multiple tracks

To select multiple tracks:

  1. Press and hold Ctrl .

  2. Click the tracks’ Track control panels or the Select button.


Select all tracks

To select all tracks:

  • Press Ctrl + A .
