Zoom in on and out of audio

Zooming in on and out of audio allows you to magnify and condense a track’s waveform to change your view of the project.

Zooming in on audio magnifies a track’s waveform.

To zoom in on audio:

  1. Click the part of the track that you want to magnify.

  2. On the Edit toolbar, click Zoom in until you reach the desired zoom level.


    Shortcut

    Press Ctrl + 1 or Ctrl + Page up .


Zoom out of audio

Zooming out of audio condenses a track’s waveform.

To zoom out of audio:

  • On the Edit toolbar, click Zoom out until you reach the desired zoom level.

    Press Ctrl + 1 or Ctrl + Page down .


Fit an audio selection to the window width

Fitting an audio selection to the window width magnifies or condenses a section of a track’s waveform so that it fits horizontally in the project window.

To fit an audio selection to the window width:

  1. On the Edit toolbar, click the Selection tool.

  2. Select the section of audio that you want to fit into the project window.

  3. Click Fit selection to width.

    Press Ctrl + E .


Fit the project to the window width

Fitting the project to the window width magnifies or condenses all tracks so that they fit horizontally in the project window.

To fit the project to the window width:

  • On the Edit toolbar, click Fit project to width.

    Press Ctrl + F .


Toggle between zoom levels

Toggling between zoom levels switches between two zoom level presets.

To toggle between zoom levels:

  • On the Edit toolbar, click Zoom toggle.


    Shortcut

    Press Shift + T .


To change the zoom level presets:

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences.

  2. In the dialog box’s left sidebar, select Tracks.

  3. Under Zoom Toggle, select your preferred presets using the dropdown menus.

  4. Click OK.
