Get started with a project
Getting started with a project involves creating a new project, opening an existing project, or importing an audio file.
Create a new project
Creating a new project allows you to start with a blank project window.
To create a new project:

Go to File > New.

Press Ctrl + N .
Open an existing project
Opening an existing project allows you to play and edit a previously saved project.
To open an existing project:

Go to File > Open.
Shortcut
Press Ctrl + O .

In the dialog box, select the folder that contains the project.

Select the project.

Click Open.
Import an audio file
Importing an audio file allows you to play and edit an existing audio file.
To import an audio file:

Go to File > Import > Audio.

Press Ctrl + Shift + I .

In the dialog box, select the folder that contains the audio file.

Select the audio file.

Click Open.
Tip
Another way to import an audio file is to drag it into the project window.
Note
If the imported audio’s waveform isn’t centered at the 0.0 line on the Vertical scale, you should normalize the track to remove the DC offset before editing and applying effects. DC offset can result in clipping, distortion, and popping sounds.
